Frequently Asked Questions

We will use Google Meet and a virtual whiteboard for the online sessions.

Online lessons are similar to normal lessons, except that I will be on a screen rather in the same room. The interactive virtual whiteboard works in exactly the same way as those used in schools, with the added benefit that sessions can be saved and referred to later.

I will provide students with links to the Google meet and the virtual whiteboard. The same links can be used for all subsequent sessions

As long as you have a good internet connection you can join the session from anywhere.

For most students one session a week is sufficient.

During a one-hour session I can reinforce the concepts and techniques a student has learnt at school and ensure the student is staying on top of new material.

Some students may benefit from more frequent sessions particularly if they really struggle with maths. However, I recommend, for example, two separate lessons rather than a double, as it is hard to maintain concentration for longer than an hour.

Private maths tuition does work.

However it is not a replacement for school. Private tuition works in parallel to regular lessons. It targets particular skills and develops proficiency in mathematics. In addition, it improves students’ confidence, their belief in their own ability and consequently their academic results.
